How can you stop delivery drones from landing on your property without permission?

Drones are one of the most exciting new technologies in our rapidly changing world. They can be used for amazing things, from delivering packages to monitoring crops, and they will be a huge part of our future. But they come with some challenges as well. For example, what happens if your neighbor starts using drones to monitor your property and deliver packages? Or what if you live in an apartment complex that allows package delivery by drone? These and other scenarios can create legal complications when it comes to allowing drones on your property. Here are 6 ways you can stop drones from landing on your property without permission:

Confirm with the delivery company

When drone delivery services first started, there were a lot of non-functional and/or unapproved drones flying around. In fact, one of the first reported cases of a drone crashing into a person was due to a drone delivery gone wrong. Since then, most drone operators have been very careful to confirm that the drones they are using are approved for flights in their area. To confirm that a drone delivery service is authorized to use their property, you may want to contact the company’s legal team. In many cases, the company will be able to quickly and easily confirm if they are allowed to use your property.

Educate your community

As people start to feel more comfortable with drones, people often look to educate their community on the potential risks and benefits. With the rise of social media, communities can be educated about legal issues related to drones quickly and easily. For example, some communities have created online forums where people can talk about the pros and cons of drones and how to mitigate risks.

There are a number of online platforms designed specifically for educating communities about the legal, safety and security issues related to drones. Many of these platforms are community-driven and can be used by any community member. Many of these platforms can be used anonymously, so you can share information without worrying about your name being attached to it. Some of these platforms are:

Block remote pilots

Remote pilots are often the first step towards curbing drone use completely. In some cases, a pilot may have permission to use your property, but they do not have permission to fly their drone from the ground. In this case, the pilot could be flying the drone from a remote control or other device. However, many remote pilots do not have access to a remote. In these cases, you may want to contact the FAA and ask them to block this remote pilot’s remote control number. This will prevent the remote pilot from controlling the drone, but it will not prevent them from flying other remotely controlled aircraft.

Install a fake land mass

With all of the hype around drones, it can be easy to forget that land is a valuable resource. Many people forget that you can take legal action against people who trespass on your land. If a drone crashes onto your property and a pilot refuses to leave, you may want to contact the police or sheriff’s office and ask for assistance. You may also want to consider installing a fake land mass. There are a number of fake land mass solutions on the market that can be used to mark off your property and make it clear that no drones are allowed on this land mass.

Warn your neighbors

If you live in a community where drone deliveries are allowed, you may want to consider sharing some safety tips with your neighbors. For example, you could post flyers in your community that explain the legal issues related to drone deliveries and explain how to safely avoid drones. You could also share some safety tips with your neighbors. For example, you could tell your neighbors to not open their windows to receive packages, and to keep their curtains closed. If you live in an apartment complex, you may want if the managers of the complex allow you to send out safety alerts to neighbors.

Don’t give drones permission to land

One of the best ways to stop delivery drones from landing on your property is to not give permission. In most cases, drone operators must have a remote pilot’s license (commonly referred to as a “remote”) before they are allowed to fly a drone. If you live in an area where drone deliveries are allowed, you may want to ask your delivery company if they will need a remote to fly their drones. If so, you may want to ask your delivery company not to give you a remote.

Bottom line

Drones are a relatively new technology, so the rules surrounding them are not fully in place. There are a number of legal, safety and security issues surrounding drones. For example, some drones may not be approved for flying, some drone pilots may not be licensed, and some drone delivery services may not be authorized to use your airspace. In many of these scenarios, you can take action to legally stop drones from landing on your property.
